• Madrid, creative city

Much of our future prosperity will depend on how we use our resources, knowledge and creative talent to boost innovation.

In the current international climate competitiveness is vital to achieve greater economic and social development. Cultural and creative industries have great potential to create jobs and growth.

Cultural and creative industries include highly innovative companies with great economic potential and, at present, are among the most dynamic sectors in Europe, accounting for 2.6% of European GDP and employing about five million people in the EU.

Creativity, together with knowledge, are an essential component in innovation.

Creativity is the means through which knowledge is combined in ways not previously considered, acquiring an intrinsic value on account of their uniqueness.

Creativity and innovation are the result of a particular environment conducive to the exchange of ideas and different perspectives that come together to create "something new."

The most advanced regions of the world (Berlin, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Silicon Valley etc.) work to achieve creative environments that encourage the development of continuous innovation.

    The creative industry in Madrid

The Madrid Region is destined to become a European leader in the creative industries sector because of the variety and richness of its culture and population. Madrid is therefore a focus for creative and cultural industries at the international level, industries which have promoted the development of a considerable domestic consumer market for this type of industry.

Additionally, Madrid has a friendly business environment in which both companies and people find a space to develop and grow and which, in turn, facilitates the creation and development of cultural and creative industry.

The economic strategy pursued by the Madrid Region favors the emergence of an environment conducive to the development of creativity, allowing the region to become a center of continuous innovation worldwide.
