• The scientific university

The Scientific University area or science park welcomes new approaches to research and development to try to exploit the knowledge generated in both academic and business areas, promoting research and the transformation of its results into technological and industrial innovation.

Driven and managed by Carlos III University, the scientific area will be the engine of innovation and serve as a bridge between the research conducted at the University and its transfer to technology companies in the Park.

One of the main objectives of this area will be the stimulation of technology for which activities will be established to promote a culture of innovation. This will create a network to facilitate the exchange of information and experiences between companies and research groups in the Park. The Office of Technology Transfer (OTRI) of Universidad Carlos III has a long experience in such activities.

Within the university a series of organisms have been created that enable and facilitate technology transfer between University researchers and businesses. Among these structures are the incubators, technology innovation centers and the Office of Technology Monitoring and Prospects.

    The Science Park consists of:

    - Laboratories and workshops linked with Technological Innovation Centers, which may develop projects jointly with companies.
    - Common services for all businesses, including libraries, halls, video halls, etc.
    - Incubators represent the learning and training area for entrepreneurs, with the assistance of Carlos III University, for those new business projects based on science and technology.
    - Center for Technological Innovation. The Technology Innovation Centers are organizations designed to get companies to extract the maximum benefit from the scientific and technological resources available to improve their competitiveness. These resources are often generated by Technology Innovation Centers specialized in various industries or horizontal technologies.
    - Office of Surveillance and Technology Prospects. The Science Park, by its own definition, should stimulate and manage the flow of knowledge and technology amongst universities, research institutions, companies and markets to stimulate the creation and growth of enterprises. The Office of Surveillance and Technological Prospects will analyze and report to the companies in its environment on trends and prospects in the technological areas relevant to their specialization: Information Technology and Communications, Industrial Processes and Advanced Materials.

Additionally, this area will house IMDEA-NETWORK (Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies). International institute for data-transmission network research and technology.
